Impressions series 1
This set of pinhole photographs was taken over an 3 month period during 2007 and 2008. It explores motion and the effects of wind on trees. Nature is never static and the sense of animation can easily be lost in straight photographs. The inspiration came from early pigment/platinum prints by Edward Steichen.
The resulting images have a beautiful ethereal appearance, but at the same time are dark and sombre. The lack of a lens means there is a softness which resembles some 19th century work, but the images are from a very much contemporary viewpoint. Six of the images were included in a portfolio which won two prizes in the 2008 International Garden Photographer of the Year Competition.
The images in this section are available as prints on A2 paper (A2 - 420 x 594 mm or 16.5 x 23.4 inches), with an image size of approximately 37cm x 37cm or A1 (A1 - 594 x 841 mm - 23.4 x 33.1 inches) with an image size of approximately 48cm x 48cm.
The prints are unframed and limited to an edition of 25. They are printed on 285gsm paper with Epson Ultrachrome K3 archival ink.
